The 3 day diet plan was the best weight loss advice that I ever got. It came from one of my mother's Parisian friends. Toxins are normally produced inside the body(internal), ammonia is produced during the breakdown of protein,and the body normally is perfectly capable of getting rid of these toxins.

However, these days we are also bombarded with toxins from our surroundings, such as those in pesticides, household cleaners, food additives, drugs, pollution, cigarette smoke, and heavy metals like lead(external) that enter the body when we ingest or inhale them.

The short-term 3 day diet plan:

Minimizes the amount of chemicals ingested (for example, by the use of fresh, in-season, organic food)...

...and emphasizes foods that provide the vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants that the body needs for detoxification.

Why would any one want or need to detox?

Theoretically many of the chemicals we ingest daily through food, water, and air can become deposited in fat cells in our bodies. Toxins build up in our bodies and in the long term, and they may interfere with the body's functions.

The results: fatigue, dull skin, hair and nails, irritability, depression and low resistance to infections. A diet that lacks certain nutrients may also impair our natural ability to neutralise and eliminate certain chemicals, which further leads to their build-up in the body.

Anyone considering a detox diet should consult a qualified health professional and/or their medical doctor first.

Pregnant or nursing women or children shouldn't go on a detox diet. People with anaemia, eating disorders, diabetes, kidney disease, thyroid disease, autoimmune disease, cancer, terminal illness, certain genetic diseases, and other chronic conditions shouldn't try this diet or should do so only under the supervision of their doctor. The 3 day diet plan is not intended for alcohol or drug detoxification.

One of the most common side effects is headache within the first few days of starting the detox diet, often due to caffeine withdrawal. Other side effects can include tiredness, irritability, acne, weight loss, and hunger. Any worsening of symptoms or new symptoms that occur during a detox diet should prompt a visit to a qualified health professional.

Medication should never be discontinued or reduced without consulting the prescribing doctor.

Following the 3 day diet plan twice a year will not completely rid your body of the full amount of pollutants and pesticides it encounters on a daily basis.

The best way of preventing the build-up of waste products in your body is to reduce your exposure to toxins by simple strategies like not smoking, limiting your intake of coffee and alcohol, eating unprocessed food (preferably organic) and getting regular exercise and rest. We call it hygiène de vie.

A detox program is a good way of starting you off on the path to a healthier diet and lifestyle, so by all means use it to kick-start a 'new you.'

The 3 day diet plan is NOT a starvation diet!

Medical practitioners all agree that starvation diets are not good for us. Not only do they weaken your body by depriving it of the nutrients it needs to function properly: it actually produces the opposite effect to the one you want because it induces the production of toxins!
